The Ohio Statehouse is located at:
1 Capitol Square
Columbus, Ohio 43215-4210
The Ohio Statehouse is located in the center of downtown Columbus, at the corner of Broad and High Streets.
The suggested parking garage is located under the Statehouse itself. Vehicles can access the Statehouse parking garage from Broad, State or Third Streets (there are no High Street entrances). More information can be found at http://www.ohiostatehouse.org/about/general-information/parking.
If that garage is already full when you arrive (as is likely to happen), you can use one of the following alternatives:
-- The Riffe Center Garage (about 2 blocks from the Statehouse) - http://bit.ly/2z2qB5j
-- Columbus Commons parking (about 3 blocks from the Statehouse) - http://bit.ly/1SfOEoW
-- Other public parking lots near the Statehouse, info at https://tinyurl.com/yydk373m
WHERE TO GO ONCE YOU ARRIVE
When you arrive, proceed into the Atrium (off of the Rotunda) inside the Statehouse. Security guards posted at the entrances should be able to help direct you if needed.
Gas cards will be provided on a per family basis when you check-in at Online Learning Day in the amount of $10 per family for those living in central Ohio (any of the following counties: Franklin, Delaware, Licking, Fairfield, Pickaway, Madison, and Union) and $20 per family for those in any other county.
Free guided Statehouse tours will be scheduled for those that indicate they'd like to take one on their registration form. You will be given tickets and a tour time once you arrive at Online Learning Day check-in. Tours will (to the best of our ability) be scheduled around any legislative meetings.
Box lunches (including a bottle of water OR soda) will be made available at no cost to you. Other snacks are allowed but please limit outside beverages, vending machines are available at the Statehouse. Please email us at OnlineLearningDay@gmail.com with any special dietary requests not addressed on your registration and we will do our best to make accommodations.
Being in the Atrium and celebrating our schools is great — but to really make a difference we need to meet with our legislators face-to-face and let them know why our schools are so important!
On the registration you can agree to meet with your legislator(s). Once you do that we’ll schedule an appointment for you. We'll inform you of your meeting time(s) and location(s) at the check-in tables at Online Learning Day. If you have questions or concerns about your meeting(s), please email us at OnlineLearningDay@gmail.com
We'll provide tips for talking with your legislator and talking points to help you prepare. During your legislator visit, the best thing to do is simply share your story. Why did you choose an eSchool? Why has it had such a positive effect on your family? Students can share their favorite subjects or what they like best about their eSchool.
PUBLICITY/ADVERTISING RELEASE AND WAIVER
At Online Learning Day there are lots of candid photos of everyone having a good time and advocating for their schools. We then use those pictures (along with written materials you and/or your dependent may produce at the event) throughout the year in various ways to further the mission of the Ohio eSchool Coalition. Signing this waiver gives us your permission to use any of your (and/or your dependent's) photos, writings, videos, etc. To fill out and submit the waiver online at anytime please go to: https://tinyurl.com/PublicityWaiver. If you'd like a pdf copy of the full waiver please email us at OnlineLearningDay@gmail.com.
WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU ON NOV 12TH!
