Online Learning Day 2018

Where to start! Online Learning Day, December 13th 2018, was a great day at the Ohio Statehouse for nearly 250 people, eSchool families, friends teachers, supporters and more!

We had the honor of hearing from State Representative Kyle Koehler (R-Springfield), and National Coalition for Public School Options Board Member Colleen Cook. Ohio Connections Academy 8th Grade Star Student of the Month, Grace B. of Westerville shared with the audience how attending an eSchool is allowing her to pursue her passion, gymnastics. In fact she had to leave early to go to practice! We also took the opportunity to launch our expanded Student Ambassador Program and presented a certificate to our first ever Senior Student Ambassador Renee W. of Willowick (Junior at Ohio Virtual Academy) who has been advocating for eSchools alongside her family since she was 3-years-old.

Throughout the day we showed a live feed of any Twitter or Instagram posts with #OHOnlineLearningDay - go check it out and see the fun posts from the families that attended! COSI science museum brought some science learning kiosks that families enjoyed and kids got to learn through hands on fun! Families were also able to take tours of the historic Ohio Statehouse.

Finally families got practice hands on advocacy with their students by meeting with their legislators. We had over twenty official meetings and several more legislators got pulled into the fun as they passed through the area while working around the Statehouse.

Thanks to Ohio Council of Community Schools (OCCS) you can view a video of the event on their Facebook page.

Overall everyone had really great day enjoying time with other eSchool families and sharing with legislators why eSchools are the right choice for them! Check out the pictures below!
