What can you do from home to celebrate National Charter Schools Week?

There are lots of simple things you can do right from your home to raise awareness for National Charter Schools Week.  Find a complete list of easy suggested activities in the advocacy Tool-Kit. But here are some highlights:

Change your social media profile picture to one of the graphics below to show your support of charter schools throughout the week.

Take one of the sample Facebook posts from the tool-kit, put it in your own words and post it to your page.

   Do the same with Twitter

Send a letter-to-the-editor of your local newspaper supporting public charter schools.

Call or write your State Representative or Senator about why charter schools are important. Find your legislator here. Print out a fact sheet (in the tool-kit) and send it to your legislator along with a short personal note.

Join The Ohio Alliance for Public Charter Schools, The National Alliance for Public Charter Schools and Education Post for a Twitter chat to discuss parent demand for charter schools! Colorado Congressman Jared Polis (@jaredpolis) will answer your questions along with National Alliance President and CEO Nina Rees (@ninacharters) and Philadephia charter school leader Sharif El-Mekki (@selmekki). Follow along and ask your questions using the hashtag #ParentsSay. Click here for more info.

And most importantly, play up your charter school!  Tell people why you send your child there, teach there or support the school.  Help others understand the value of choice in education.

Have a great week!
