As eSchool families, we don’t often have a school supply list handed to us with the expectation we’ll go out and get items necessary to making the start of school successful. Instead, we may have items suggested by our schools or things to purchase that we know would help get the kids started on the right foot. To help give your wallet a break, Ohio is having a back to school sales tax holiday on August 7, 8, and 9, 2015.
For those three days, the Ohio Department of Taxation reports the following items will be exempt from sales tax:
- Clothing priced at $75 per item or less;
- School supplies priced at $20 per item or less; and
- School instructional material priced at $20 per item or less.
For additional information and to see answers to frequently asked questions regarding the tax holiday, see the Ohio Department of Taxation.
